Meet Your Training Team

This course is offered by Daniel Caceres Prieto.

Daniel Caceres Prieto, MD, is a physician with experience in emergency medicine, rural and remote healthcare, wilderness medicine, behavioral health, and expedition medical support. His field experience includes providing medical coverage and medical leadership for endurance races, mountain biking events, trekking expeditions, and remote outdoor programs throughout Latin America. He has also worked in remote river communities and austere environments where prolonged patient care and resource-limited decision-making were essential.

Daniel is a Survival Med Instructor for Wilderness First Aid (WFA), Advanced Wilderness First Aid (WAFA), and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) courses, an American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Heartsaver Instructor, and a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) provider. He is also certified in Wilderness Medicine for Medical Providers and is completing additional advanced training in wilderness and rescue medicine.

Fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to teach courses to diverse communities throughout the United States and Latin America. He also has conversational proficiency in Portuguese. Daniel is passionate about advancing wilderness and emergency medical education by empowering healthcare professionals, outdoor leaders, travelers, endurance athletes, expedition teams, and remote communities with practical, evidence-based skills that build confidence and save lives.
